Production Intern (Production Assistant) – IMMEDIATE OPENING

We are seeking an intern to work as a Production Assistant on our current production of The Broken Heart at The Duke on 42nd Street. THIS IS AN IMMEDIATE OPENING. The intern will have the opportunity to assist Equity stage managers throughout the performance run. The candidate will gain valuable hands-on experience in non-profit theater production and it is an ideal position for individuals pursuing careers in stage management. Preference will be given to candidates available full-time during the performance period. Prior stage management experience required.

Start Date: Immediately
End Date:  Sunday, March 4 (closing)

Hours: 8 Performances per week plus applicable rehearsals

Compensation: Stipend (and school credit if applicable)

Marketing and Management Intern
Theatre for a New Audience seeks a Marketing and Management Intern to work with the Artistic and Managing Directors, support the Theatre’s Market Analysis and Rebranding efforts, and perform general marketing-related duties such as updating the Theatre’s website.  The position is available immediately.

Duties will include:

  • Providing administrative support to the Artistic and Managing Directors, as needed.
  • Supporting the Theatre’s Market Analysis/Marketing Plan efforts as it does necessary work to prepare to launch within a new market in the BAM Cultural District in Downtown Brooklyn (anticipated opening: early 2013).  Duties will include taking and distributing meeting notes and interfacing with the Marketing and Strategic Planning Consultants, as well as with other non-profit organizations contributing data to the study.
  • Supporting the Theatre’s Rebranding Committee as it plans a rebranding strategy to accompany the Theatre’s move to its own facility in Brooklyn.  Duties involve meeting scheduling, taking and distributing meeting notes, and interfacing with Board Members and consultants.
  • Perform simple website updates in WordPress (training provided, but experience in WordPress a plus).
  • Other marketing and administrative duties as needed.

Hours: 20-40 hours per week. Anticipated term is 4-6 months, but could extend to part-time hourly employment.

Artistic Administration Intern
We are seeking an Artistic Administration Intern to work directly with the Artistic and Managing Directors as well as in the General Management department.  The Intern will assist with the Artistic Director’s schedule and phone calls, office management, and other day-to-day tasks as needed. The candidate will gain valuable hands-on experience in the non-profit theater world and it is an ideal position for individuals pursuing producing or management careers in the theatre.

Candidates should possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, proficiency with computers, and a healthy sense of humor.

Hours: Flexible, 15 hours per week during regular office hours. Occasional Evenings and Weekends.

Capital Campaign Intern
Theatre for a New Audience broke ground on a premiere classical theatre performance space in downtown Brooklyn during the spring of 2011, and will open the new home in 2013. The Capital Campaign Director is seeking an intern to assist on tasks related to fundraising for this venture.

This is an ideal position for individuals pursuing careers in non-profit development or fundraising. Candidates should possess excellent organizational, writing, internet research, and database management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required. Experience with graphics is a plus.

Duties will include:

  • Assisting in producing and managing marketing materials including monthly newsletter and fundraising collateral
  • Strategizing the Theatre’s social media presence
  • Organizing and tracking invitation lists, producing targeted mailings, and assisting on planning for cultivation and fundraising events.
  • Conducting campaign-related research and writing reports on funding prospects.

Hours: Flexible, 10-15 hours per week during regular office hours. Occasional Evenings and Weekends.

General Management Intern
We are seeking an intern to work directly with the General Manager and Associate General Manager.  The intern will have a range of responsibilities including tasks in Company Management and Marketing. Candidates should possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills as well as proficiency with computers. He or she might be asked to run errands outside the office, and should be comfortable navigating public transit.  The intern may also be asked to assist our Subscriptions Supervisor, and should be comfortable conducting phone calls with patrons. The candidate will gain valuable hands-on experience in the non-profit theater world and it is an ideal position for individuals pursuing producing or management careers in the theatre.

Hours: Flexible, 10-15 hours per week during regular office hours. Occasional Evenings and Weekends.

Education Department Intern
Theatre for a New Audience operates the largest program in the New York City Public Schools to introduce Shakespeare and classic drama. The Education Department seeks an energetic, self-motivated individual with a desire to participate in all aspects of an education department. Tasks include:

  • Support in programs implementation, including school recruitment, research and scheduling and school site visits.
  • Participate and assist in our in-depth Shakespeare World Theatre Project teaching artist training.
  • Support in Shakespeare and playwriting curriculum and program development.
  • Assist with student matinees.
  • Various administrative duties.

Candidates should possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills proficiency with computers, a strong interest in education, a healthy sense of humor and a profound love of Shakespeare. He or she may be asked to attend meetings and/or observe teaching artists in classrooms around New York City, and should be comfortable navigating public transit.  The candidate will gain valuable hands-on experience in the arts education world, and it is an ideal position for individuals pursuing careers in arts education as teaching artists or administrators.

Hours: Flexible, 10-15 hours per week during regular office hours.
