What's Our Vision?
Our loyal friend, the legendary director, Sir Peter Hall said it best:
"A theatre company needs its own space, and the audience needs to know the home of the company it supports. Think of the Old Vic, La Scala, Royal Shakespeare Company, Epidarus, the Moscow Arts Theatre - places that audiences remember. Theatre for a New Audience already has its name; now it urgently needs its place."
Well, our vision is to build our home. A simple, elegant, dynamic space housing an American classic theatre rooted in Shakespeare.
We'll be a magnet. As the finest intimate classical stage in New York City, we'll attract the most interesting theatre artists. As we integrate our dream into Brooklyn and the Fort Green community, our education programs in the Public Schools will grow. We'll be able to offer additional after-school programs, and, when we're not performing our own work, provide affordable rentals to other groups.

“Under the visionary leadership of Jeffrey Horowitz, Theatre for a New Audience became one of New York's most progressive artistic institutions. The seemingly impossible task of presenting risky, innovative work to sophisticated theatergoers, and
new untried audiences, has succeeded. Its new home in Brooklyn will be a welcome addition to the borough's cultural life.”
