NEH Summer Scholars participate free of charge and receive a stipend of $2,100 for the two-week program. The stipend is intended to help defray travel expenses to and from New York City and living expenses. The first half of the stipend will be paid to you on the first day of the institute with the remainder paid on the final day.
NEH Summer Scholars will be housed in a residence hall on the campus of Columbia University’s Teachers College, just blocks away from the Institute. The fee from July 29 – August 15 is $1,445. Accommodations include:
- 24-hour security desk.
- All units have private baths, are air conditioned and are furnished with a twin-size extra-long bed, chair, desk, lamp, dresser, wardrobe or closet, a micro-fridge (combination microwave oven and refrigerator/freezer), and phone with free local calls.
- High-speed internet and cable TV connections are in each room; however, you must bring your own equipment (Ethernet cord, coaxial cable, computer, and television).
- Each unit is supplied with one set of bed linens and towels. A weekly linen exchange (on a designated day) is available for guests staying longer than one week.
- Other amenities include common area kitchens (located either on the floor or on the floor above/below), coin operated laundry, TV Lounge, study lounge, computer room, and a courtyard with seating.
