jh-photo-from-american-theatre-article-301x300.JPGThis month’s issue of American Theatre Magazine, the premiere national monthly magazine for the American professional non-profit theatre, includes a feature article on Jeffrey Horowitz, Founding Artistic Director of Theatre for a New Audience.

The article chronicles Jeffrey’s storied history with the Theatre, from its optimistic founding in 1979 with funds from a lawsuit settlement, to celebrating this year’s 30th anniversary season. The article delves into the Theatre’s relationships with artists and personalities along the way, including The Public Theater founder Joe Papp and director/designer Julie Taymor, who directed her first Shakespeare production, The Tempest, under Jeffrey’s guidance in 1986. Finally, the feature describes the Theatre’s decade-long quest for a permanent home, which will culminate in late summer 2010 with the groundbreaking of our future home in Brooklyn’s BAM Cultural District.
