Actors and Directors Project

The Actors and Directors Project (ADP) was established in 1997 to promote the development of American directors of Shakespeare. In particular, ADP seeks to develop directors’ sensibility for Shakespeare’s language and enhance their understanding of how actors can bring Shakespeare’s text to life. Each season, Theatre for a New Audience invites six to eight young to mid-career directors to work with Cicely Berry, Director of Voice, Royal Shakespeare Company, Andrew Wade, Theatre for a New Audiences’ Director of Voice, and a company of actors. ADP has become a highly valued program in the field in which artists develop skills by working with Berry, one of the finest masters of Shakespeare’s language. ADP participants are among the most promising artists working today.
