Othello, directed by Arin Arbus, Associate Artistic Director, will inaugurate a fresh, new program at Theatre for a New Audience. With evening performances beginning at 7:00 pm (in addition to matinees) the production will be accessible for all audiences and edited to run a taut two hours. A company of eight actors will create the world of the play without spectacle or special effects, bringing the story to life through language, simple design choices and powerful performances - the fundamentals of theatre.

Arbus' production depicts a society where Christians and Muslims are deeply divided. As Othello progresses, Shakespeare shifts the focus from the enemy outside to the enemy within. Although the backdrop is political, Othello is a domestic tragedy about the formation and destruction of a marriage.
