Shlemiel the First

Tickets are no longer available for Shlemiel the First, which closed on December 31, 2011.

To enhance the audience’s experience the Producers are offering FREE post-performance discussions on Sunday December 18th following the 3:00pm performance, on Thursday December 22nd following the 7:00pm performance, and on Tuesday December 27th following the 7:00pm performance. These free, one-hour post-performance discussions are led by scholars, artists, and/or journalists.
On Sunday December 18th our panelists will be David Gordon (Director/Choreographer for Shlemiel the First) and Zalmen Mlotek (Musical Director for Shlemiel the First), moderated by Theatre for a New Audience Founding Artistic Director Jeffrey Horowitz.
On Thursday December 22nd, there will be an inter-generational panel of NYU alumni who have worked, or are currently working in Yiddish Theatre, on Yiddish theatrical traditions and its cross-generational appeal. Hosted by Bryna Wasserman (SOA ’74), Executive Director and Mattew “Motl” Didner (TSOA ’95), Associate Artistic Director, National Yiddish Theatre – Folksbiene, and with Daniella Rabbani (TSOA ’06), Alec “Leizer” Burko (CAS ‘00), and Natalie Robin (TSOA ‘08).
On Tuesday December 27th, our panelist will be Robert Brustein (conceived and adapted Shlemiel the First), moderated by Theatre for a New Audience’s Founding Artistic Director Jeffrey Horowitz.
