Theatre Relaunches Design of New Home

wordpress-bam-cd-map-150x179.gifArchitect Hugh Hardy and his team are beginning the final design of Theatre for a New Audience’s new home in the BAM Cultural District, following our site change earlier this year.

The new design will customize the building for its new site, Ashland Place between Lafayette Avenue and Fulton Street, and create an engaging façade that will be a focal point of the District’s North Site. The design will be completed by January, with groundbreaking planned for early summer 2009.

Our new home will now face a Visual Arts Plaza, a public outdoor space that will link the surrounding cultural buildings and provide a gathering place for visitors.
Flanking the plaza, new developments, Tower 1 and Tower 2 will consist of mixed-income residential units, commercial space, and rehearsal, studio, and performance space dedicated to Brooklyn-based arts organizations.
