The critically acclaimed Theatre for a New Audience production of Othello, currently performing to rave reviews at Intiman Theatre in Seattle, has extended its engagement through August 9.

The production, which sold out all preview performances, officially opened July 8 and was scheduled to conclude August 2. An additional week of performances has been added to accommodate box-office demand.

Arin Arbus, who staged Othello Off-Broadway this past spring, directed the Seattle transfer. The Seattle Times hailed the production as “Vigorous…unusual…fierce” and noted “the profundity of Othello and Desdemona’s love and the horror of its destruction.” Metropolitan Magazine said, “Arbus lets us look past whatever usually gets in the way of our settling into Shakespeare…and lays the play before us as if it were a terrific old text she’d just lucked into rediscovering.”
