The Spotlight’s on… Jefferson Mays

c_jefferson_mays-200x200.jpgAmerican theatre and film actor Jefferson Mays will make his Theatre for a New Audience debut as The Duke in the upcoming production of Measure for Measure.

In 2004, Mays won a Tony, Drama Desk, OBIE, and a Theatre World Award for his solo performance in I Am My Own Wife, a Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Doug Wright. The production, which began at Playwrights Horizons and then moved to Broadway, subsequently toured nationally and internationally, to widespread acclaim. He also starred in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s 2007 revival Pygmalion with Claire Danes.

A Connecticut native, Mays received his training at Yale School of Drama and at the University of California San Diego. On stage, he has appeared at La Jolla Playhouse, Long Wharf Theatre, the Williamstown Theatre Festival, and Playwrights Horizons. His film work includes The Big Brass Ring, Kinsey, and The Notorious Bettie Page.
