The Spotlight’s on… Joan and Robert Arnow

Robert H. Arnow is a long-time friend, supporter, and Board Member of Theatre for a New Audience. His late wife Joan, who was a true champion of the Theatre and encouraged his involvement, served on the Theatre’s Board for 21 years. Together, the Arnows gave early and generously to the Theatre’s Capital Campaign and their support has had a marked effect on its growth. The Arnows designated their first gift, $250,000, to our Green Leaders program, which supports our new home’s environmentally-friendly design and building operations. We will be one of the few LEED-certified theatres in the country.

Earlier this year, in honor of Joan, Mr. Arnow gave an additional legacy gift to the Campaign. This $500,000 gift
provides matching funds for our National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Challenge Grant, which will establish a $1.7 million endowment fund that will be used to develop, pilot, launch, and insure a comprehensive new Humanities Program for the Theatre in perpetuity. These programs will begin next year and continue to grow as the Theatre moves into our new home.

Mr. Arnow is President of Weiler-Arnow Management Company. He has devoted years to the growth and
excellence of many charitable organizations in his roles as a founder and former Board Chairman of The Jewish Week, General Chairman of the UJA-Federation, Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Governors of Ben-Gurion
University, and Board Member of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, Lincoln Center, and others. Mr. Arnow was one of the leaders in the effort that transformed Bryant Park into an oasis for New York City, and is a former
Chairman of the Board of Bryant Park Management Corporation. He has been a member of the Board of Theatre for a New Audience for 15 years.
