Christian Camargo, a stage, film, and television actor, will play the title character in the Theatre’s upcoming production of Hamlet.
Camargo was born Christian Minnick into a family of actors that includes his mother, former soap opera actress Victoria Wyndham; his aunt, Broadway actress Felice Camargo; and his grandfather, Ralph Camargo, a Mexican-American actor whom Christian cites as a great inspiration in his work. It was to honor him and his heritage that Camargo chose to adopt his last name.
Camargo is a graduate of the Juilliard School of Drama and earned his first Broadway role in a production of David Hare’s Skylight with Michael Gambon. For that work, he won a Theater World Award for Best Broadway Debut.
Following, Camargo joined the inaugural company of Shakespeare’s Globe Theater in London, England, where he worked with Mark Rylance. Among other roles, he appeared as the title character in Henry V.
In 2005, Camargo played the title role in Theatre for a New Audience’s production of Coriolanus. Recently, he appeared in Arthur Miller’s All My Sons on Broadway, opposite Diane Wiest, John Lithgow and Katie Holmes.
Camargo has also portrayed many roles in television and film. He is perhaps best known for the Showtime drama “Dexter,” in which he played Rudy, the Ice Truck Killer.
