At Theatre for a New Audience you’ll discover the contemporary heart of the classics. The Theatre brings the visions of contemporary American and European artists together with classic plays. Shakespeare is its cornerstone, and each season Theatre for a New Audience produces the Bard alongside other classics and significant contemporary plays whose powerful writing and complex characters make them part of the Shakespearean tradition. Its season of three plays, staged readings, artist developmental workshops and education programs reach an audience of 21,000 including more than 3,000 New York City Public School students annually.
